LARGE REMOTE CONTROL CARS & TRUCKS
Watching a large-scale radio control car or truck rip across a track or desert might cause you to wonder whether calling it a “model” is really the right term. RC vehicles just don’t get any more realistic than this. Large RC trucks, buggies, and cars are usually 1/5 to 1/6 scale, and with their bodies on, they can measure up to about three feet long. These are definitely some of the biggest, most powerful remote control vehicles you've ever seen!
Large-scale RC vehicles have been part of the industry since the beginning. It wasn’t until Losi® released the 1/5 scale, gas-powered 5IVE-T® short course truck, however, that large scale became a truly established RC vehicle category. Since then, Losi has developed several more large RC trucks and vehicle platforms that have taken the hobby by storm. These include the 1/5 scale DBXL desert buggy, available for gas or electric power, and the 1/6 scale electric Super Rey platform.
Due to the enormous size and speed of large scale radio control cars and trucks, they’re much better suited for experienced RC drivers who are comfortable with all aspects of controlling their vehicles than they are for beginners. There’s also the higher cost to consider. If you’d expect to pay a bigger price when everything else about large scale RC cars and trucks is supersized, you’d be right. Even so, these massive machines are definitely an exciting step up.
Like standard size radio control vehicles, large scale RC trucks, cars, and buggies are less limited in the types of terrain they can take on successfully than the smaller models. Most grassy surfaces are no problem, nor is desert terrain or sandy dunes. The larger dimensions also allow the manufacturers to include a larger amount of scale details for RC modelers who want their vehicles to look as much as possible like the real thing.

Losi also equips this remote control racer with an extra-large 800cc fuel tank for long, uninterrupted run times.
