A bigger version of the Losi® 8IGHT that also takes advantage of proven TLR® (Team Losi Racing® engineering, the Losi 5IVE® radio control truck platform changed the world of 1/5 scale off road RC racing as soon as it was first introduced. It comes equipped to give RC giant scale and gas power enthusiasts the kind of unrivaled realism, performance, and reliability that only Losi can deliver.
In fact, the 5IVE has become the most successful and influential platform in large scale gas remote control racing to date, setting the standards for all other vehicles in the category to be measured against. In its latest edition, the Losi 5IVE is available as a four wheel drive short course RC truck with BND® (Bind and Drive®) completion technology to provide the advantage of factory assembly plus the ability to use your own favorite RC transmitter.
The Losi 5IVE includes the “go-to” engine for 1/5 scale vehicles, the Zenoah® G320 32cc. This powerful pull-start, air-cooled engine was crafted specifically for the 5IVE platform. It delivers the massive torque needed to move heavier 1/5 scale RC vehicles and allows these 4WD behemoths to handle like pure adrenaline machines, with incredible feel and precision.
One sign of its high-performance heritage is that the Losi 5IVE platform features heavy duty brakes that were originally developed for the TLR (Team Losi Racing) 5IVE-B®. Stamped-steel rotors, combined with heavy duty plates and pads, provide a sense of confidence and control that lets racers drive harder into the turns and come to a stop more quickly. The front-to-rear braking bias can also be fine-tuned to meet evolving track conditions.
Losi engineers worked relentlessly to get the perfect balance on the 5IVE by moving its center differential location and providing the best driving feel and balance to the vehicle. Additionally, reducing the “dog bone” angles in the drive train provides better drivability with increased drive pin durability. With the new steering rack and bell cranks, you can create the best feel and handling to your steering. The adjustable Ackerman allows you to refine your steering for more mid and exit corner steering. The servo saver has also been redesigned to create less bind under load with a much smoother action, providing a more consistent steering feel.
The 5IVE platform’s redesigned clutch carrier with custom gear mesh brace eliminates unwanted chassis flex when racing in harsh conditions. This allows you to push your large-scale RC vehicle as hard as you can, no matter the track conditions, and maintain a constant feel throughout. With as much torque as the 5IVE generates, Losi includes a throttle servo brace designed to eliminate radio tray flex while braking. This added extra rigidity to the servo creates a more precise, consistent brake feel and helps to eliminate wear and tear. The 5IVE also comes standard with machined aluminum shock caps with threaded bleeder screws. The bleeder screws allow you to build and rebuild your shocks faster and easier while insuring you have the exact amount of oil in your shocks every time to create consistent rebound.
