Losi/Nitrotane Sweep 3rd Annual Novarossi GP

Darren Bloomfield at The 3rd Annual Novarossi GP

The 3rd Annual Novarossi GP supported by Horizon Hobby UK has become one of the largest events in the UK. This year the inclement weather created some challenges for the drivers. A weather-battered dirt track resulted in a cancellation of the final event for the Truggy class, which meant the overall results were based upon qualifying times. This resulted in Losi/Nitrotane/Spektrum driver Ed Kerry taking first place in the Truggy class using his Losi 8IGHT-T Truggy, Nitrotane Fuel and a Spektrum Radio System.
The Buggy class races were conducted on an Astro Turf track with finals reduced to 10 minutes and the club constantly pumping the water off the track to keep things running. In the main final Darren Bloomfield using the new Losi 8IGHT 2.0 Buggy Race Roller, Nitrotane Fuel and Spektrum Radio System took the lead and never looked back. Losi driver Richard Taylor had a hard fight to keep second place, while Losi driver Victor Wilk took the final podium spot in third. This top three resulted in a clean sweep for Losi, Nitrotane Fuel and Horizon Hobby.

Revelation Raceway - KYOSHO SUNDAY FINALS

Adam Drake wins Revelation Raceway - KYOSHO SUNDAY FINALS

It's always good to come home again, and Adam Drake made the most of his most recent homecoming to Revelation Raceway in Ontario, CA. Drake competed in the hotly-contested 1/8-scale buggy class in the 2007 Kyosho Fall Classic against some of the fastest racers in North America. Once again, however, Drake would not be denied as he drove his Team Losi Racing 8IGHT to a convincing TQ and win of the Classic. A number of other drivers also made the A-Main behind the wheel of 8IGHTs including Trever Adamo, Matt Scheffler, Kevin Gahen and Colby Pho. Excellent work and performances by all, keep up the good work.

Darren Bloomfield Wins Round 2 of the Novarossi Winter Series

As the weather turns cold and racers head indoors, there are still outdoor off–road races taking place around the globe. One of the most prestigious racing series in the UK is the Novarossi Winter Series. At the second race of the season, Losi's Darren Bloomfield outpaced the rest of the field as he placed his Nitrotane–powered Team Losi Racing 8IGHT on the pole position. Ed Kerry, Mark Fuller, Mark Dell, Mark Johnston and Pete Stevens all joined Bloomfield in the A–Main with their Team Losi Racing 8IGHT buggies. In the main, Bloomfield was challenged by Elliot Boots during the first stint of the race, swapping the lead frequently. Bloomfield was able to pull away after the first round of pit stops, however, and never looked back. Bloomfield won the main with the only 24–lap run in the A–Main. Kerry finished third overall, placing two Team Losi Racing Nitrotane–powered 8IGHTs in the top three, just missing second overall.

Losi and Truhe 2007 JBRL Champions

Mike Truhe at JBRL

There are few combinations as potent as the Team Losi Racing 8IGHT and our line–up of factory drivers, and yet again the competition didn´t stand a chance. Coming into the season finale of the Jimmy Babcock Racing League, Losi´s own Mike Truhe trailed competitor Cody King by one point for the overall season championship. Mike quickly evened the score by earning a point for TQ, meaning the driver with the highest finishing position in the main would be crowned the 2007 champion. Truhe proved his TQ wasn´t a fluke as he went on to win the A–Main and capture the 2007 JBRL Expert 1/8–scale Buggy Championship. Congratulations to Mike and everyone involved with his racing efforts – job well done.

Drake Sweeps another race with the 8IGHT and 8IGHT–T

SideWinder Winners

The 4th–annual Sidewinder Nitro Explosion took place November 10 and 11, at the challenging Thunder Alley R/C Raceway in Beaumont, CA. Featured classes included 1/10–scale stadium trucks, 1/8–scale Buggy and 1/8–scale Truggy. Run in association with the JBRL (Jimmy Babcock Racing League) and Thunder Alley Raceway, the event was an absolute blast for all who attended. For the competition, however, the more things change, the more things stay the same, as Adam Drake took yet another series of wins with his proven Team Losi Racing 8IGHT and 8IGHT–T Race Roller. Competing in multiple classes can be especially challenging, but Adam was able to stay ahead of the competition and track changes thanks to the countless tuning options available to him. Adam battled with Ryan Maifield early on in the 1/8–scale buggy A–Main, but eventually pulled away from the field to take the win. It was more of the same in the Truggy class as Drake used his Top Qualifying position to set a torrid pace early. Unable to match the speed, performance and consistency of the combination of Drake and his 8IGHT–T, Adam cruised on to take his second title of the event.

Felix Zamorano and Team Losi Racing Capture Spanish Truggy Cup

Spanish Truggy Cup Winners

Proving that Team Losi Racing vehicles are capable of winning anywhere and anytime, Losi is proud to announce that Felix Zamorano has won the 2007 Spanish Truggy Cup. Hosted by the facility at Elda (Alicante), the participants were greeted by beautiful weather and magnificent competition. Zamorano set the pace in qualifying with his Team Losi Racing 8IGHT–T Race Roller, with current 2WD and 4WD Electric Off–Road Spanish Champion and fellow Losi driver, Alberto Garcia taking second on the grid. The 1–2 punch of these two excellent drivers was too much for the competition as they both lapped the field. However, all was not a day in the sun for these two outstanding drivers, as the gap from first to second never exceeded 15–seconds throughout the event, requiring both drivers to push their skills and equipment to the limits. In the end they finished as they qualified, with Zamorano leading Garcia across the line for a Losi 1–2 finish.

Jimmy Babcock Nitro Racing League Round #7 Hemet Race Park

Not even the wind and dust ripping through Hemet, CA, on Sunday night could stop Losi factory driver Mike Truhe, as he and his Team Losi Racing 8IGHT buggy added yet another victory to an already stellar 2007 campaign for the team. The one–day event at Hemet Race Park was capped off with a 20–minute A–Main for the Expert 1/8th Scale Buggy class. At only 20–minutes, this was a sprint–race in comparison to the 45–60 minute mains of many nitro races. Truhe capitalized on his second starting position by staying up front with the lead pack, outpacing and outlasting the field. Mike went on to win his third race on the 2007 JBRL schedule, despite the tough windy and dusty conditions that plagued the race. Truhe heads into the November 18 season finale in contention for the overall series title.

Novarossi GP

Novarossi GP Winners

Some of the best drivers from Europe and the USA converged on the Novarossi GP just outside London, England, only to find the field paced by Team Losi Racing vehicles and drivers. Team Losi Nitro Off Road Winter Champs Hosted by the Hurricane R/C Club in Tampa, FL

Losi team members at the Nitro Off Road WInder Champs

The first year for the Team Losi Nitro Champs hosted racers from many parts of the world to come and race. Drivers from Sweden, England, Norway, and Australia enjoyed some good ole American racing in the heart of sunny Florida.

To start of the racing weekend was Friday's qualifying which saw Team Losi driver Adam Drake take top qualifying honors in both 1/10th Truck with his Team Losi XXX–NT AD2 and 1/8 Truggy with the soon to be released Team Losi 8ight T Race Roller. Right behind Adam was fellow teammate Mike Truhe with his Team Losi Nitrotane fuel powered 8ight T Race Roller and XXX–NT AD2.

Saturday was qualifying for the premier offroad class, 1/8th Buggy. There were two classes this year in 1/8th Buggy, one being the 1/8th Sportsman Class and the second being 1/8th Factory Class. In the Factory Class Adam Drake took overall Top Qualifying honors. Adam ended up with the TQ by getting 2 of the 4 rounds with fellow Team Losi driver Mike Truhe and Travis Amezcua taking the other two rounds with their Nitrotane Fuel powered Team Losi 8ights to round out 2nd and 3rd on the grid for Sundays main event.

On Sunday, it was the Team Losi show in most of the classes. In the 1/8th Sportsman division it was privateer Marcus Black taking the overall win with Mike Weatherholt finishing 2nd with his Team Losi 8ight to give Team Losi a 1–2 sweep in the Sportsman 1/8th class. Since Marcus won the 1/8th Sportsman class he was awarded a brand new factory sealed Team Losi 8ight.

The 1/8th Truggy class was yet another very competitive field with factory support from many teams. In the main, Team Losi's Adam Drake took the win over Travis Amezcua to give Team Losi's soon to be released 8ight T Race Roller a 1–2 sweep in the Truggy class.

The 1/10th Truck class saw the familiar face of Team Losi's Adam Drake run away from the field taking advantage of his top qualifying position and to win the 30 minute A–main by almost a lap. In 2nd it was Team Losi's Mike Truhe securing 2nd with his Team Losi XXX–NT AD2 powered with Nitrotane fuel.

Team Losi was the team to beat in the 1/8th Factory Class as the Team Losi 8ights managed to qualify 1–2–3 on the grid. In the main a fierce battle between Team Losi's Adam Drake and Mike Truhe lasted the entire 45 minute main. Mike Truhe edged out Drake by less than a second to win the overall and bring home top honors to Team Losi and Nitrotane Fuel. Rounding out the top three was fellow Team Losi Teammate Travis Amezcua with his Team Losi 8ight powered by Nitrotane fuel. This gave Team Losi a 1–2–3 sweep in the most coveted class at the event.

Team Losi would like to thank everyone who came to experience the 1st Annual Team Losi Nitro Champs. We would also like to thank the Hurricane RC Club on putting on an excellent event once again.
